World Landscape Architecture Month

April is World Landscape Architecture Month! At EEA, our landscape architecture and land planning services not only enhance site aesthetics, but also provide functionality, value, and cohesiveness with natural surroundings and the environment. We’ve featured a few of our landscape projects below, please join us as we celebrate the role our landscape architecture team plays in shaping healthy, resilient, and beautiful places.

Lake Arlington

Lake Arlington is a prime example, and one of our cornerstone landscape projects. A 93-acre site, with a 50-acre detention lake and 11 acres of wetlands, EEA performed landscape architecture and civil engineering services on a large park renovation project for the Arlington Heights Park District, which included a sensory garden, playground, exercise stations, fountain, picnic structure, and pathways.

Luther Burbank Elementary School

The new 84,000 SF Luther Burbank Elementary School reflects the legacy of Luther Burbank (a horticultural pioneer and inventor that developed more than 800 strains and varieties of plants) in every element of the facility. EEA provided civil engineering and landscape architecture services for the project, which included an outdoor learning space, sunshades, and rain garden. Using primarily native species, the outdoor learning space was created in a way that is both attractive and educational for students, faculty, and the community. The Luther Burbank Elementary School project earned the CBC/COAA Owners’ Choice Award in 2019.

Harper College

We’re proud to highlight Harper College and our longstanding partnership with this esteemed institution. For over a decade, EEA has completed more than 50 projects across the campus, in particular our landscape team taking the lead in developing a comprehensive landscape enhancement master plan. By leveraging the existing vegetation and incorporating native plantings that don’t require long-term irrigation, we were able to deliver a responsible landscape solution that not only reduces maintenance costs but will also enhance the natural beauty of the campus for years to come. We’re thrilled to have played a role in shaping the sustainable and inviting outdoor spaces of Harper College.
