We’ve brainstormed, planned, made adjustments, raised money and planned some more, but the day has finally arrived—CANstruction Build Night. This effort, creatively named CANstruction and benefiting the Greater Chicago Food Depository (GCFD), is an effort to bring various organizations together for one common cause—to help increase awareness for and make a dent in hunger in the Chicagoland area.

Since April, members of the EEA team have been working with colleagues at FitzGerald Associates Architects to design and plan a structure made entirely of canned food. Teams must brainstorm, desire, fundraise and construct their structure to be displayed at the Chicago Merchandise Mart from August 14 through September 8. This year, we bring you “baCANa split”, a modern twist on the traditional dessert and a celebration of memories made during shared meals.
