Cara Stanker

Design Engineer

From a young age, Cara admired her father’s work ethic and the creativity he demonstrated while working in the carpentry industry. Cara hoped to find a passion that would allow her to incorporate those same skills, which inspired her to become an engineer.

Cara received a Bachelor of Science in Civil & Environmental Engineering with certificates in Environmental Studies & International Engineering from the University of Wisconsin – Madison. At UWM – Madison, Cara was a part of Engineers Without Borders, serving as an Executive Board Member. Cara was also the recipient of the WIF Grant. This grant allowed her to design a solar-powered air filter for the UW Hospital under the Wisconsin Idea Fellowship for communities in Tanzania to prevent pneumonia and asthma. Additionally, Cara had the opportunity to study abroad in Copenhagen and backpack through different cities over the summer while attending the Danish Institute for Study Abroad. She spent that time expanding her knowledge on sustainability and renewable energy practices.

Cara eagerly joined our team as a Design Engineer in the summer of 2021. Based out of our Chicago office, Cara is responsible for assisting with site design around the City of Chicago and its surrounding suburbs.

Outside of work, Cara continues to participate in Engineers Without Borders. Through this organization, they partner with communities to help provide for their basic needs. She also enjoys going for a run, baking delicious treats, and watching movies. Cara loves practicing her French whenever she gets a chance, as she is fluent in the language.
