Sports Center Park

Eriksson Engineering Associates, Ltd. (EEA) provided civil engineering services for the complete renovation of Sports Center Park in Round Lake Beach, Illinois. The project included regrading the soccer field, new paths and volleyball courts, in addition to adding new fitness stations, tennis courts, bocce ball courts, a splash pad and a native rain garden. EEA was able to demonstrate to the municipality that stormwater management was already provided in nearby Hook Lake, therefore saving the owner the cost of building an unnecessary stormwater management facility.

Our civil engineering team provided utility designs, as well as designs mitigating soil erosion. With significant elevation change from the parking lot to various park amenities, EEA was able to meet the site’s ADA requirements and create safe paths and entryways to enable access for park patrons of all abilities. For the splash pad, ensuring the long lead water line from the off-site water source had adequate water pressure was a unique challenge EEA was able to resolve.
