Loyola Medicine Southwest Ambulatory Care Center
Located at the southeast corner of LaGrange Road (IL 45) and 179th Street (Cook County B62) in Tinley Park, the Loyola Southwest Ambulatory Care Center is a two-story, 65,000-square-foot medical office building providing all the treatment and diagnostic services of a traditional hospital. Constructed on a 12-acre lot, the development integrates well with the surrounding community, both functionally and aesthetically. From the early planning stages, Eriksson Engineering Associates, Ltd. (EEA) played a pivotal role, providing comprehensive civil engineering, traffic and parking engineering, and landscape architecture services.
EEA successfully overcame significant challenges in order to secure approval from the State of Illinois for a new right-in/right-out entrance on LaGrange Road. This strategic addition streamlines access for users arriving from the south, including Interstate 80 traffic, eliminating the need to navigate the signalized intersection at 179th Street.
Our civil engineering team designed two naturalized stormwater basins which span two watersheds. Additionally, EEA coordinated the extension of a sanitary sewer and watermain, in collaboration with the village and its consultants, paving the way for future developments south of 183rd Street.
Drawing inspiration from the nearby Orland Grassland Forest Preserve, our landscape architects created a landscape plan that celebrates the region’s natural beauty. Our plan utilized low-profile prairie for large portions of the perimeter of the site, and then transitioned back towards the building with more “traditional” landscape elements. The designs were achieved while using all native and adaptive species, which met the goals of the owner to provide a natural feel and ecologically responsible landscape for their facility while adhering to the requirements of the Village of Tinley Park.
