Heritage Park Turf Fields

Consultants from EEA have been involved in a comprehensive park project with the Wheeling Park District to address flood control needs on their Heritage Park site. Additionally, EEA assisted in the design and install of parking lots, bleachers, a concessions building, lighting and several synthetic turf fields. Coordinating also with the Metropolitan Water Reclamation District of Greater Chicago (MWRDGC) and Village of Wheeling, EEA completed three new synthetic turf softball fields and multi-purpose football, soccer and baseball field.

EEA designers worked directly with the Park District to develop a clover-leaf design for the four fields, preserving the focus on a central location the fields now share. Field design was the initial project goal, but EEA considered all the needs of the Park District’s users and coordinated the field design to incorporate the separate concession building, plaza area, fencing, lighting and scoreboards. EEA consultants managed the design and construction of the various engineering disciplines and contractors through various construction phases and design elements to ensure the site would function seamlessly as a whole.

Additionally, EEA oversaw construction to meet the challenging schedule set forth by the Park District. All four fields were completed between September and November—before the first snowfall.
