Behm Homestead Park
EEA was retained to consult with Fremont Township and their landscape architect on a Master Plan for a proposed township park campus. The Behm Homestead Park campus plan included athletic fields, a playground, concession buildings, parking lots, a trail system and access to a Lake County Division of Transportation (LCDOT) roadway, which required careful planning to secure all necessary permits and approvals, particularly related to the re-alignment of Peterson Road by the LCDOT. As part of the planning process, EEA completed a study associated with alternatives available for on-site wastewater treatment.
Once the master planning phase was complete, EEA prepared construction drawings and permits, and provided construction monitoring services for the development of the campus. Floodplain management and wetland mitigation issues were also included in EEA’s scope of work.
Final improvements included football, soccer, lacrosse, baseball and softball fields, as well as a playground, walking trails with fitness stations, a parking lot, roadway access and detention facilities. The work completed to date has an estimated construction cost of $1.9 million.
