Indian Trails Public Library Building & Parking Expansion
Eriksson Engineering Associates, Ltd. (EEA) civil engineering and landscape architecture consultants assisted Product Architecture + Design with the renovation of Indian Trails Public Library.
The modern 15,000-square-foot building addition has new interactive learning features to enhance youth programming.
EEA engineers were tasked with expanding and reconfiguring the parking facilities to accommodate the larger building. To help busy families, the new facility has a book drop-off and pick-up window. EEA designed the additional driveway for the window, located north of the building site.
To enhance the outdoor offerings of the library, EEA landscape architects prepared landscape designs for the library’s Butterfly Garden. The landscape consultants also worked closely with the architect to specify bike racks, pavers, and ballards.
As part of the scope, EEA consultants designed site concrete finish work, walkways, courtyards, stormwater management measures, and water services. All permitting and approvals were coordinated through multiple agencies, including the Village of Wheeling, the Metropolitan Water Reclamation District of Greater Chicago, and the Illinois Historic Preservation Agency.
