Josh Andersson, PLA

Landscape Architect

With more than a decade of landscape architecture experience, Josh is responsible for landscape design and planning in a variety of markets, and has been instrumental to the growth and continued success of EEA’s Landscape Architecture department. Benefitting from past experience in the public realm, Josh has been able to quickly assess Clients’ needs in many School District, Park District and Municipal Projects. Also inspired by small, but effective spaces, he strives to make the best use of real estate when programming high-rise amenity decks.

Prior to joining EEA in 2021, Josh worked for landscape architecture firms that often teamed with architects and engineers, giving him the opportunity to hone his project collaboration skills and coordinate between city planners and clients to successfully get projects built. At EEA, Josh is working on several project types, including new construction and renovation for K-12 and higher education institutions both involving athletic centers and campus building renovations. His involvement is best utilized when engaged early in the design process beginning with Master Planning and then continued through to the Construction Documents and Construction phases.

Having originally studied and practiced advertising photography, Josh earned a master’s degree in Landscape Architecture from the Illinois Institute of Technology and embarked on his second career. He is based out of our Chicago office and is a registered Landscape Architect in Illinois, Indiana, Wisconsin and Colorado.

Outside of the office, Josh enjoys participating in endurance events and signs up for nearly any challenge that initially makes him nervous or requires a rigorous training load, similar to a past rugby career. Josh also enjoys spending time with his daughters and participating in all interests they might have.
