Mike Renner, PE

Principal / Vice President

Mike knew he wanted to become an engineer after attending the engineering open house with his father near their home at the University of Illinois at Champaign-Urbana. He was so gripped by the displayed exhibits, he ended up creating his own.

Today, with more than 35 years of design and construction monitoring experience, Mike is EEA’s go-to engineer for urban redevelopment projects. His suburban site development portfolio also includes higher education, senior living, affordable housing, commercial, recreation, K-12, and municipal projects.

Although Mike is Vice President of EEA, he also holds an owner’s perspective of how design team professionals best serve projects. He is a 28-year member of the Cary Park District Board of Commissioners, and past board president, as well as a member of the Cary Park District Foundation board. Mike was recently re-elected as Cary Park District Commissioner.

Mike has a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and is a licensed professional engineer in the state of Illinois. He is a member of several organizations: Joint Distinguished Park and Recreation Accreditation Committee (JDPRAC); Illinois Association of Park Districts (IAPD); AIA Chicago Service Associates; South Planning Board (Chicago) and the Home Builders Association of Greater Chicago. He has a Construction Documents Technology (CDT®) certification and was the 2013 recipient of the IAPD Mike Cassidy Commissioner Community Service Award. Mike recently received the 25-Year Board Member award from the IAPD for his service with the Cary Park District.

Outside of work, he likes to volunteer at his church and stay active by road biking, golfing, and working out.
