Oswego Community Unit School District 308: Traffic Engineering

Eriksson Engineering Associates, Ltd. (EEA) has worked with Oswego Community Unit School District 308 on traffic, parking, and pedestrian service projects on all elementary, junior high, and high school campuses. EEA conducted numerous studies of pedestrian routes and evaluated individual homes and neighborhoods for meeting subsidized bus routes requirements.

Oswego High School, Oswego, Illinois
EEA observed the traffic operations at Oswego High School and developed recommendations including considerations of student carpooling, restriping bus lanes, adding student crosswalks, reducing existing congestion by reassigning student parking areas and modifying the student drop-off route.

Oswego East High School, Oswego, Illinois
Through close observation by EEA consultants, it was determined Oswego East High School was experiencing on-campus traffic congestion that was also slowing traffic on adjacent roadways. EEA first recommend a short-term solution of strategically placing traffic aides at two critical internal intersections to improve the overall traffic flow. EEA consultants also advised long-term solutions of implementing traffic signals and right-turn lane improvements, as well as a future project to widen of on an adjacent arterial roadway.
