Cicero School District 99 New Transportation Center

EEA was retained by FGM Architects to provide civil engineering services for the new Cicero School District 99 Transportation Center.

The goal of the project was to consolidate the District’s two existing remote bus storage lots into one transportation facility equipped with sheltered bus parking, vehicle wash bay, maintenance storage space, loading docks, fueling station and administrative offices.

EEA performed all site engineering design of the parking areas, driveways, roads and sheltered bus areas. Due to the project’s on-site fueling station, spill contamination measures were also incorporated into the designs.

The project site contained contaminated soil from close to 100 years of previous industrial developments. This required the design team to work with an environmental consultant to remediate the soil prior to construction.

EEA also collaborated with several reviewing agencies, including the MWRDGC to coordinate and obtain all necessary permitting for the project.
