Arkadia Tower

Located in the heart of Chicago’s Greektown Neighborhood stands Arkadia Tower. The 33-story, 350-unit apartment building features a swimming pool, parking garage, green roof, and retail space.

EEA Consultants were retained by Fitzgerald Associates Architects to provide civil site design services.

Like most building projects of its size, stormwater detention was a key consideration during the design phase. To comply with the City of Chicago’s stormwater ordinance, EEA engineers designed and successfully permitted an 8,700 cubic foot detention vault to manage rate control.

An important goal of the project was to also maximize the tower’s 20,000 square feet of ground-level retail space. To make the space more appealing and leasable to prospective tenants, EEA negotiated with the Water Department to place a water meter in an underground vault.

Before development, EEA managed negotiations with multiple agencies including the Illinois Department of Transportation. The team coordinated permits through the agency and the owner of the alley to ensure construction access.
