Adult Down Syndrome Center

After the initial Adult Down Syndrome facility fell into disrepear, consultants at EEA were commissioned to assist in the design and construction of a new Down syndrome center one block south of the original site and near the Lutheran General Hospital main facility. To best serve the site, EEA included a dedicated, independent dry-bottom detention basin along the west side of the lot to accommodate stormwater runoff. Additionally, a convenient, handicap accessible entrance from the existing north parking lot was developed with four additional new accessible parking spaces.

The new two-story brick residential-style building is now used to enhance the well-being of adolescents 12 and older, as well as adults with Down syndrome using a team approach to provide comprehensive, holistic, community-based health care services.
